The Captain

Dave Dunn

I’ve been fishing for over 50 years, starting with summers spent chasing bass and perch on Lake Simcoe. As a teenager on the Ottawa River, I spent countless evenings learning to target pike, walleye, and bass.

In 2023, I began a new chapter with Dún Mara, focusing on salmon, trout, and walleye in the Bay of Quinte and on Lake Ontario — fisheries that demand attention to detail, seasonal awareness, and adaptability.

Years on the water have shaped a calm, methodical approach built around conditions, patterns, and steady execution — not guesswork.

Technology & Electronics

Modern electronics and precision trolling systems allow us to adapt quickly to depth changes, temperature breaks, and seasonal fish movement — critical factors when targeting salmon, trout, and walleye in the Bay of Quinte and on Lake Ontario.

Dún Mara is equipped with advanced Lowrance navigation, sonar, radar, and autopilot systems, along with precision GPS, VHF communication, an iTroll throttle controller, and a Fish Hawk temperature probe. This integrated system allows us to dial in productive water and maintain consistent, controlled trolling speeds in changing conditions.
